There's a big ad campaign going on now for some new TV show called The Event.

It looks exciting.

Am I going to watch it? HELL NO!

After the fiasco that was my fandom of Persons Unknown, I'll be damned if I'm going to start watching another new series that will probably end up being moved through 3 different time slots so I miss a few episodes and have no idea whether they're going to see it through to the end or not.

Fool me once…

If it's as good as they're making it out to be, maybe I'll pick it up once they get Season 2 going and the Blu-ray's get released…

Android Phone Battery Life

I've had an Android phone for a few weeks now, and my biggest problem with it has been the battery life. It seems to die within a day, which has been a real hassle.

Now I've got one of the crappiest Android phones available today… the LG Eve GW620R running Android 1.5, so this may not apply to better phones with newer versions, but I thought I'd share my solution just in case anyone searching could benefit from it.

Over the weekend I installed a free app called Advanced Task Killer.

While multitasking is obviously one of the biggest advantages Android has over other, more fruity smartphones, it seems that some apps like to just linger in the background even when you think you're done with them, and others seem to just start up on their own from time to time just for kicks.

By running this ATK app and killing off unused apps, I've found that my battery life isn't draining out like an open faucet. Looking at it this morning, it's still at 85%.

So if you're got Android and are having issues with battery life… give this a shot. I hope it helps.

What Happened to Brent Butt???

I just watched an hour long comedy show put together by Brent Butt.

I think it was called "The Brent Butt Comedy Special".

Honestly… I have absolutely no idea what made me stick it out and watch the whole hour.

Now I wasn't a rabid Corner Gas fan or anything, but I liked the episodes I saw. It seemed like a good show and Brent Butt seemed like a funny guy, but watching this special brought back to me memories of that one-episode series that Rosie O'Donnell put together a few years back.

There just wasn't a funny moment throughout the entire thing. It was like watching small train wrecks one after another, and hoping eventually there'd be some sort of grand finale that never comes. What was he thinking???

I guess if nothing else, I now know who Jully Black. For what it's worth, she's not funny either, and I hope to God she sounds better on her albums or in any other shows she does.

So that was that. Wasted an hour watching a rerun of some sadly unfunny comedy show.
