Gran Turismo Makes Real Life Better
I just finished watching qualifying for the F1 in Japan at Suzuka.

Congrats to Vettel.

Watching it, I couldn't help but give a nod to GT5 and the huge level of appreciation I have for it's realism.

Because of GT5, I felt like I knew the track inside and out and was able to better appreciate watching them run laps, knowing where I would often make mistakes and what parts seemed trickier than others.

Watching Kimi go off track.... then recover on the extra bit of pavement and then try to come back across the green stuff to get back on track brought back plenty of memories.

Of course, I generally make it back on track, but hey... I can't expect Kimi to drive better than me ALL the time, right?

Every time someone took the hard right-hander that's right after the S-turns, I couldn't help but think they should be going off into the sand like I've done a million times.

Yay for GT5 for making real life even better. :D

Go Junior!!!
After 4 years, nearly to the day, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has finally won another race, and in rather dominant fashion!

Congratulations, Jr.!

The poor guy's been at the top of the standings the entire season. He certainly deserves this win as much as anyone!

Way to start the season, Kyle!
For all the controversy at the end of last season, NASCAR is definitely better off for having Kyle Busch in the mix!

After pulling off two miraculous saves to keep from wrecking, Kyle managed a last second pass last night to win the Bud Shootout and start the new NASCAR season in style.

The race was great fun, and I'm happy to say that I think pack racing may finally be back! I think we'll have a much better feel for what's to come after Thursday's duels, but the future looks bright. There was some tandem racing at the very end when they weren't concerned about blowing up engines anymore, but to be at the front in the end, drivers are going to have to negotiate the big pack just like in the olden days.

Things should be very exciting over the next week!

Congratulations, Tony Stewart!
Congratulations, Tony Stewart, on winning the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship!

And THANK YOU for giving us what was probably the absolute best championship battle ever seen, and what may well have been the best racing I've ever watched.

Last night's final race of the season was the stuff of legend. If they'd made a movie about it, you'd be rolling your eyes halfway through, thinking the writers had taken it just a tad bit too far.

I mean... Rocky getting knocked down and counted to 8 can only happen so many times before you say "Ok... I get it... he's gonna get back up..." and just think the movie is plain silly.

Last night's race had the equivalent of that at least 5 times, and that's just what I'm thinking of off the top of my head.

In an unbelievably incredible effort, Tony was able to win the race and the championship by tying Carl Edwards in points and winning the tie-breaker due to the number of race wins... ALL of which came in the Chase.

This story had everything. My favourite driver vs. my least favourite. Plenty of adversity. Downright lunatic driving. It was definitely one for the ages!!

Congrats again on number 3, Tony! You earned it!
